Joining once again, in collaboration with the Montreal Canadiens, Classic Auctions is pleased to offer a large collection of artifacts and memorabilia from the storied club’s comprehensive archives. A number of historic specimens direct from the famous team including unique displays that were once marvelously displayed in the hallowed Montreal Forum and later at the Bell Centre are available, with an endless array of legendary and monumental players featured that all proudly once donned the sacred jersey of the mighty Montreal Canadiens.
A special time in the history of the Montreal Canadiens, the club celebrated its 75 anniversary in 1985, with a special banquet held on January 13th at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel in downtown Montreal. The Canadiens all-time “Dream Team” was selected at the gala, including HOF superstar and two-time consecutive Art Ross Trophy winner Dickie Moore, with the offered framed artwork by noted Habs artist Michel Lapensee originally used for the cover of the 1983-84 Montreal Canadiens 75th Anniversary Dream Team Program. Direct from the archives of the Montreal Canadiens and possibly displayed originally at the Montreal Forum and later at the Bell Centre, the 8” x 10” portrait painting has been executed in water colour, with Moore’s image wonderfully portrayed. Matted and framed to full dimensions of approx 13” x 16”, the original work has been signed and dated by the artist over the bottom right. An LOA from Classic Auctions will be included.
