Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021

The first European player to captain the mighty Montreal Canadiens, Saku Koivu wore the prestigious “C” for ten seasons, tying the Habs record for most seasons as captain with Jean Beliveau. This signed stick was used by the two-time All-Star in 2008-09, his 14th and final season with the Canadiens. A CCM Vector model with “Koivu” stamped to the upper shaft, the original black tape remains over the blade and blue cloth wrap with reinforcing white strand over the handle. A serial number and bar code are present on the underside along with a date stamp of “16 Oct 2008”, with “11” and “BOS” handwritten over the knob. Koivu has added a silver paint pen signature to the front side of the blade that displays beautifully, with heavy game-use visible on the composite, with numerous marks and abrasions to the blade and lower shaft. We should note that the Habs met the Bruins six times during the regular season, including Oct 15th, Nov 13th, Nov 22nd, Jan 13th, Feb 1st, and April 9th.
