Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
Early and very infrequently seen O-Pee-Chee relic here was available at the same time as the company issued its inaugural and classic pre-war hockey card set and reportedly was offered through a wrapper redemption promotion. The cardboard game with built-in spinner stretches 21-1/2" long when unfolded, the back including a checklist of the 72 cards in OPC's Series "A" and "B", along with an offer to mail away for an album to store the cards. Players would have to spin either a "1" or "13" to actually score a goal, with a hockey puck (not present) moved in various directions and spaces depending on the number spun. Players could decide to play three 20-minute periods or to an agreed upon number of goals. Fascinating scarcity has survived in attractive condition without unsightly flaws; small areas of soiling and a couple of light peripheral creases are to note. From the first chapter of O-Pee-Chee's lengthy trading card story!
