Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
Still exhibiting his unmatched scoring prowess during his final season in California, Wayne Gretzky would register an impressive 81 points in just 62 regular-season contests for Los Angeles in 1995-96 before being traded to St Louis in February. This desirable signed stick was used by the icon circa 1995-96 with the Kings. An Easton Aluminum model with “Gretzky” factory graphics, “Gretzky” is also stamped to the inserted wooden Easton stick blade. Sporting his trademark Gripper over the knob, the tape has been removed from the blade to facilitate the beautiful black marker signature placed on the front side. Just light game-use is exhibited, with a few marks to the blade along with a bit of surface wear to the shaft.
We should also note that Kings trainer Peter Millar coded the butt end of the stick, with "RS 95" (or 96?), ??? (illegible initial of team), 462 (or 482) and the symbol of a fish.
