Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
Dominant throughout the last decade as two-time Stanley Cup champions, the Los Angeles Kings joined the NHL as an expansion team in 1967, with the club able to boast a number of regal superstars who have all played under the crown including the game’s all-time greatest, Wayne Gretzky. This lot offers a large game-used Kings stick collection from the early-1990s totaling 9, with all past members of the Kings. Included, we have sticks used by Mike Krushelnyski, Tomas Sandström, Dave Taylor (2, one stick is signed on the blade), Peter Ahola, Doug Houda, Ian Laperriere, Jim Thomson and John McIntyre. Models mostly include Sher-Wood, along with a KOHO (Ahola) and Louisville (Houda) specimens, with each player’s name on his respective stick. The original blade and shaft tape jobs also remain intact, with many having “Los Angeles” stamped to the lower shaft. The sticks all exhibit moderate to heavier game-use, with all blades intact and no breaks, and we should note that while the majority of the sticks appear to date from their time with the Kings, some examples were used with other clubs.
