Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/26/2021
Originally founded to keep the rival WHA out of Uniondale’s Nassau Coliseum, the New York Islanders iced their first team in 1972-73, and were quickly successful, making regular playoff appearances after just their third season. The boys from Long Island would famously secure four consecutive Stanley Cup championships, with their 19 consecutive playoff-series wins during the early-1980s a feat that remains unparalleled in professional sports. We have a large New York Islanders collection that totals approx 66 signed items from legendary superstars Mike Bossy, Bryan Trottier, Billy Smith and Denis Potvin, and includes photos, pucks, postcards and more! Originating from Bryan Trottier's personal collection, this lot will come with his signed LOA.
Included in this desirable cache of signed Islanders items, we have 11 Islanders pucks with 5 from Trottier, 4 from Smith and 2 multi-signed by Bossy, Trottier, Smith and Potvin. Each has been signed in silver and sports an Islanders logo. This is followed by 22 postcards signed by Trottier in black ink (3 ¾” x 9”), 3 photos signed by Trottier/Bossy (8” x 10”), 2 additional photos signed by Trottier along with picture from Sears (8 ½” x 11” with creasing), 6 photos signed by Billy Smith (2 different, 8” x 10”), 5 photos signed by Bossy (2 different, 8” x 10”) and 8 photos signed by Potvin (2 different, 8” x 10”). We also have 5 posters from “Stanley Cup Weekend” in 1993 signed by 4 with Mike Bossy, Bryan Trottier, Billy Smith and Denis Potvin (22” x 26”), 5 Bryan Trottier signed lithographs including one pictured with Ron Duguay (one is also signed by Duguay) and one with dual images (18” x 22”). The photos and pucks show light wear, while the posters and lithos sport moderate handling wear including some wrinkles and corner dings.
