One of the game’s greatest defenceman throughout the 1970s and overshadowed by the superstar prowess of Bobby Orr, Brad Park played in every single NHL All-Star Game from 1970 to 1978, and was runner-up in James Norris voting in six seasons during the decade. Originating from his personal collection, this lot offers a pair of display pieces signed by the 1988 HOF inductee. First, we have an original oversized 10 ½” x 13 ½” black and white photo of a smiling and toothless Park from 1973, set in a plastic shadow box (there is a crack and material loss along the side), with the skilled blueliner signing near the base in blue marker, adding “Rangers Beat Bruins – Playoffs 1973” above, and “HOF ’88” below. The signature and notations display perfectly, with the photo appearing to sport light wear. Next, we have a limited-edition photo from the Rangers’ 75th anniversary on opening night, October 11, 2000, with over 40 past Blueshirts present including Park, along with Gump Worsley, Phil Esposito, Mark Messier and others. The 7” x 13” print has been matted and inserted into a custom metal frame, with “New York Rangers 75th Anniversary - Opening Night – October 11, 2000” engraved along the base. Park has signed the reverse of the frame in black marker, with no issues for the signature, and we should note some wear to the frame.
