Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
Spending part of his lone WHA season in Edmonton, Wayne Gretzky’s first 10 NHL seasons would take place in his adoptive Alberta home, where he enjoyed the greatest success of his career as an Oiler. This limited-edition “The Face” lithograph by artist Steven Csorba has been signed by The Great One. At 18” x 24” and picturing Wayne deep in thought, with the iconic “99” of his Edmonton Oilers uniform chiefly depicted, Gretzky has added a large and flowing pencil signature over the bottom left, with the artist signing on the bottom right. Affixed with corner mounts to an attractive royal blue matte at full dimensions of approx 21 ¼” x 26 ¾”, the limited-edition number of “79/99” has been placed by Csorba’s signature, with just a quality frame needed for completion.
We should note that what appears to be a few stray print lines are visible between the signatures.
