Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021

The 1985-86 Montreal Canadiens claimed the storied franchise's 23rd Stanley Cup after a spectacular playoff run through Boston, Hartford, New York and Calgary in the spring of 1986. Rookie goalie Patrick Roy claimed his first of an NHL record three Conn Smythe trophies as the 1986 playoff MVP, with the team's promising future featuring young stars Chelios, Richer and Lemieux. This unawarded 1986 Stanley Cup championship trophy was produced by Boffey, and is similar to the examples awarded to each member of the Montreal Canadiens by the NHL in a tradition dating back to 1958. Standing a majestic 13” and mounted to a wooden base with brown felt underside, the names of the men who made it happen are engraved in three rows beneath the team executives, with “Club de Hockey Canadien” and “1985-86” engraved above.
The trophy is bathed in an even coat of tarnish, with a few small areas of wear and surface loss, including along the rim and tiers. There are also a few very minor and small surface dents, with blemishes over the engraved text as well as directly to the left of the text.
