Enjoying considerable success despite having his career cut somewhat short due to post-concussion syndrome, Chris Pronger received numerous accolades and awards throughout his tenure including the Hart Memorial and James Norris Trophies, with a Stanley Cup championship earned with Anaheim in 2007. From his rookie era, we have a Hartford Whalers jersey worn by the superstar in the mid-1990s, in 1993-94 or 1994-95. A CCM label and size “56” fly tag are affixed to the collar (with “44” handwritten), with embroidered CCM and NHL crests on the reverse hem. Featuring the Whalers team crest in use from 1992-93 until relocating to Carolina, “44” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in layered tackle twill, with “Pronger” across the affixed nameplate. Sporting light game-use with washed-out marks present over the front and sleeves, no obtrusive wear is visible.
It should be noted that according to a prominent Whalers jersey collector with examples in his collection that have no team stamp like the offered specimen, discussions with team trainers from the era mentioned that in certain circumstances, if they needed a quick jersey, it would be done in-house without going through Custom Crafted.
