Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/21/2020
The Calder Memorial Trophy winner in 1958 and playing in every single NHL All-Star Game from 1959 to 1974, excluding just 1966, Frank Mahovlich transitioned to the WHA in 1974-75 after parts of 18 NHL seasons, and would see dual-seasons with both Toronto and Birmingham. This Bulls jersey was originally gifted to a non-profit organization in Alabama by an ex-Bulls team trainer, and it’s a vintage garment from the period matching the examples worn by Mahovlich, with just the font on the nameplate differing. A Russell Athletics label with “L” sizing graces the collar, with the vintage jersey measuring-out to roughly a size “50”. Styled with a rubberized Bulls team crest, striping bands, and numbers, “Mahovlich” appears over the affixed mesh nameplate in single blue twill.
The vintage garment survives in beautiful condition with little wear, with a large stain over the lower reverse.
