Experiencing collegiate hockey as a member of the Colgate Red Raiders four for seasons which included finishing in second at the 1990 NCAA Men's Division I Ice Hockey Tournament, Steve Poapst went undrafted, and made his NHL debut with the Washington Capitals, in 1995-96. The Cornwall native would skate for three additional clubs throughout his career including Pittsburgh and Chicago. This Black Hawks jersey was worn by Poapst during the second half of 2000-01 season, his first in the Windy City. A CCM label and size “56” fly tag are affixed to the collar, with embroidered NHL and CCM crests over the reverse neckline and bottom hem respectively (“1” is handwritten to the reverse of the NHL shield). Styled with the traditional multi-coloured Indian head team crest with chain-stitched detailing, "42” appears over the sleeve and verso in layered tackle twill, with matching tomahawk crests over each shoulder and the Black Hawks 75th anniversary crest sewn to the right breast. Moderate game-use is exhibited on the sweater, with marks over the sleeves along with a team repair near the left cuff. There is also some minor discolouration to the affixed nameplate. An LOA from the Chicago Black Hawks will accompany.
