Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/20/2020
A product of the OHL’s Toronto Marlboros, three-time Stanley Cup champion Greg Gilbert was selected by the New York Islanders in 1980, when the club was the dominant force in the game. Parts of eight seasons would be played on Long Island before heading to Illinois for a five-season stint with Chicago. This Black Hawks jersey was worn by the Mississauga native in 1992-93, his final Windy City season, where he appeared in 77 regular-season games. A Maska Ultrafil label and size “54” fly tag are affixed to the collar, with embroidered NHL and CCM crests over the reverse hem. Styled with the traditional multi-coloured Indian head team crest with chain-stitched detailing, "14” appears over the sleeve and verso in layered tackle twill, with matching tomahawk crests over each shoulder and the Stanley Cup centennial crest sewn to the right breast. Moderate to heavier use is exhibited on the sweater, with numerous marks over the lower front and additional wear to each sleeve. There is also pilling to the interior sleeves. An LOA from the Chicago Black Hawks will accompany.
