Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020

Uninteresting to some collectors, in Canada notably, but very interesting to others are Topps sets with their at times different images or colors. That Bobby Orr guy leads the roster here, his (EX) #24 card headlining a mostly crease-free 1969-70 set that’s mostly VG+ to VG-EX, with an unmarked VG+ checklist. Orr is no better than VG in the ’70-71 ensemble, with however EX-or-better dominating and an EX-MT (ST) Gilbert Perreault rookie notable. A small corner crease sends Ken Dryden’s ’71-72 RC to VG+, joined by an EX-MT Orr and others that average VG-EX+. Up to 198 cards from the three previous (132-card) issues is a ’73-74 near set, with Dryden (EX-MT) and Billy Smith RC (VG+) to note and Orr the lone card missing. Please see our website for more details/images.
The ’69-70 set includes a VG Serge Savard rookie card, with stamp inserts spotted affixed to 13 cards including Howe and Hull. …A couple of surface scrapes affect the ’70-71 Orr card, with Brad Park RC (VG-EX) and a partially filled-in VG checklist also notable, while subtle wax staining on the back of the Perreault RC led to the (ST) above. …Enough corner wear sends Gordie Howe’s (crease-free) last Red Wings Topps issue to VG, while the ’71-72 checklist is heavily marked with additional writing. …The ’73-74 group looks to be mostly an EX-or-better contingent and, like the others, is housed in nine-pocket pages. They’ll make for a colorful and fun binder to flip through.
