Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/20/2020
Before the NHL was aiming to expand in 1967, hockey fans west of Chicago were happy to see the pro game being played by clubs in the old Western Hockey League. While many NHL talents skated for member teams before and after expansion, the legend of the old WHL still lives on with this fantastic lot of 11 vintage pucks.
The fun starts with five Official Western Hockey League pucks. Four of them bear orange logos for each team and you will get the San Diego Gulls, Portland Buckaroos, and two distinctly different variations for the Los Angeles Blades. The final puck from this group has cresting for the Phoenix Roadrunners. The next four pucks are also official WHL discs, but these were produced by Converse and made in the USA. Look for two of the Seattle Totems and two bearing the logo of the Roadrunners.
Also included in this lot are two tough Totems pucks that were not meant for official game use. These souvenir items include one with a Jack In The Box logo on the back (small chip in the rubber) along with a 1972-73 promotional puck which bears facsimile signatures from team members like Dave Dunn and Bruce Bullock along with coach Phil Maloney. All of the pucks in this lot do show some level of wear.
