Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/20/2020
Captured by the historic locale that served as a cradle during the infancy of the mighty American pastime, the Boston Red Sox were fittingly triumphant in the centennial edition of the Fall Classic, winning the 2004 World Series in four-straight games over a demoralized St. Louis Cardinals squad. Boston would claim their first title since 1918, forever ending the Babe’s curse, with Manny Ramírez named the series' MVP. This gorgeous Boston Red Sox 2004 World Series Championship 18K gold and diamond ring – the only championship specimens in all of pro sports produced from 18K gold - was originally presented to an unknown individual, and is almost identical to those awarded to the players and staff, with the singular difference being the “86 Years” within the inner band. The player’s rings have opening and closing single apostrophes, while this ring simply states 86 Years with no apostrophes. Size 10 with an approx weight of 67 grams, a Red Sox emblem with 10 natural rubies sits mounted over a baseball base with 14 inset princess-cut diamonds and 4 round brilliant-cut diamonds as well as 4 synthetic blue sapphires, with “World” above and “Champions” below, encompassed by a perimeter of over 50 round brilliant-cut diamonds. The right shank features a pair of red socks below with “Greatest comeback in History 2004” above, while the left has an image of Fenway with “Red Sox” below and “Anderson” above. The inner band has “86 Years” as mentioned, along with "10-27-04, Jostens 18k". Exhibiting just light wear throughout, the ring remains in gorgeous condition. Please take note that this item may be subject to a silent reserve.
