Exhibiting the reason he was selected first overall during his NHL debut, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins would tie the score and force a shootout with Pittsburgh while also blocking two shots and receiving third star selection. The superstar would later score his first NHL hat trick in just his third contest. Hailing from his rookie season in 2011-12, we have a photo-matched helmet worn by the Burnaby native. A CCM model in Oilers blue with intact Oakley visor, chin strap and interior harness, “93” appears over the forehead and lower reverse, with Oilers decals gracing each side. There is also an NHL decal over the right reverse. We should note that according to the accompanying LOA from the Oilers, the helmet was worn throughout the 2011-12 season including his first game on Oct 9, but imagery from the first contest shows a matching model helmet, with a Hockey Fights Cancer sticker in place where the current NHL decal sits. It is possible that the sticker was originally there and was later removed or changed. An Oilers hologram numbered “8015” has been affixed to the left side, with the number matching on the accompanying LOA.
Great game use is shown on the head gear, with numerous scratches and surface abrasions visible, with additional marks to the visor and wear visible within the interior. An inventory sticker has been affixed to the interior, with the Oilers hologram number of “8015” also handwritten. Nugent-Hopkins has signed just above the forehead in black marker, with the signature quite worn from handling. Getty Image #142039959 (March 28, 2012) has been matched to the two marks visible within the CCM logo over the forehead, to the exact placement of the Oilers sticker on the left side, and to the small area of residue over the left side where the helmet’s sizing can be altered.
