The first European player to captain the Montreal Canadiens, Saku Koivu was drafted 21st overall by the Habs in 1993, and spent a lengthy 13 seasons with the club before signing with Anaheim in 2009. This lot includes a signed stick used by the 2002 Bill Masterson Trophy-winner during the early-2000s, accompanied by a pro stock Starter Koivu jersey. The stick is an Easton Synergy model in solid orange with “11 Koivu” over the upper shaft, with the original blue wrap over the handle and the blade tape removed to facilitate the large silver paint pen signature. The stick itself exhibits just very light use. The circa 1997-98 jersey sports Starter labeling with a size “52” fly tag, with a tackle twill team crest and numbers, with “Koivu” across the affixed nameplate in single white twill.
