Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/30/2021
Once called “the most talented player I have ever seen” by the iconic Bobby Orr, Mario Lemieux was the only player able to compete on fairly equal footing with the one and only Wayne Gretzky. From the early-2000s, we have a signed stick used by the legendary superstar. A Nike Quest 3 model in Pens colours and preferred by Mario in the twilight of his career, “M. Lemieux” factory graphics appear on the upper shaft, along with a factory code on the underside. The original black wrap is in place over the handle, with the blade tape removed to facilitate the large and flowing black marker signature. Hailing from the personal collection of an important hockey executive, his signed LOA will accompany.
Exhibiting light game-use, there is minor wear to the blade and shaft, with traces of red paint transfer on the lower shaft. There is also sticky residue in two small areas of the upper shaft, resulting from previously attached tape.
