Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/20/2020
Utterly dominant behind the bench with no other coach in North American sports history equaling his 500-wins with the Montreal Canadiens, Toe Blake made his NHL debut as a player in 1934-35 with eight games played for the Montreal Maroons. Winning the Hart Trophy in 1939, Blake would have his name engraved on Lord Stanley’s grail an impressive eleven times. Originating from his personal collection, we have a cigar humidor that was presented to the three-time All-Star, accompanied by his NHL oldtimers tie clip and signed Christmas card. First, the mahogany humidor is approx 10 ½” x 8” x 4”, with a glass bottom and pine lining, a gold-coloured plaque is affixed over the lid, with “Association des Veterans du Hockey du Quebec Enr’g” and “Hector Toe Blake 1968” engraved. The tie clip features a stick and crutch, with “Montreal-NHL Oldtimers” engraved, along with “Swank” on the stem. The Christmas card has been signed in ballpoint, with the signature displaying well. The humidor remains in beautiful condition with some minor surface wear, with the interior clean and problem free. The Christmas card is approx 5” x 6 ¼”, and remains in excellent condition with no issues. LOAs will accompany for the humidor and tie clip.
