Tyrus Raymond "Ty" Cobb appears here on a tobacco card that was issued while the all-time great was still relatively young in his record-setting career, one that would see "The Georgia Peach" establish an astonishing 90 MLB records before it was done. The youngest player to win a batting title (1907), the longtime Detroit Tigers' star hit .377, .383 and .420 during the T206 years, earning a reported $9,000 during the 1911 season, after which he was named the American League's MVP. His career batting average (.366 or .367 depending on the source) and his 12 A.L. batting crowns help render his "Portrait - Red" card one of the most important/valuable in the monster T206 issue. Creases and rounded corners render this recently PSA-graded example PR 1.
