Always intriguing are 1964-65 Topps sets, with some interesting and rather distinct characteristics observed with this ensemble. Most 1st Series cards are quite impressive and EX-MT or better, with a majority of them NM. Some sharp corners and immaculate surfaces are also among 2nd Series cards, with however a majority of those exhibiting upper left corner dings, sending them to the EX vicinity. Most 2nd Series short prints are so affected as are Howe, Horton and the #55 checklist, with 58-Williams SP and 98-Hicke SP being EX-MT exceptions. We'd say EX-MT+ for 20-Hull SP and 33-Beliveau SP, with 6-Sawchuk, 31-Mikita, 40-Bower and 47-Crozier RC NM notables and 48-Richard similar but miscut. A few lesser lights not making it to VG are noteworthy; 1-Martin RC, 66-Angotti RC, 80-Rousseau SP, 109-Pilote All-Star (P, with pinholes and paper loss) and 110-Hall All-Star, with the 1st Series checklist VG at best with a two-inch vertical crease to mention. Different hues on the backs of the 2nd Series examples point to a pieced-together segment, contrary to the first.
