Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/16/2020
Sharing the honour of wearing the captain’s “C” of the New York Islanders with prestigious Hall of Fame members Clark Gillies and Denis Potvin, Jonathan Tavares would lead the club as skipper for five seasons before signing with Toronto as a free agent in the summer of 2018. This signed stick was used by the six-time All-Star in 2011-12, just his third season on Long Island. A model used by Tavares in both 2010-11 and 2011-12, the CCM stick feature’s “91 J. Tavares” factory graphics over the upper shaft, with the original black tape over the blade and black cloth wrap on the handle (reinforced with a strip of white vinyl tape at the base). A factory code in white is visible over the lower underside of the shaft, with the numbers gone over.
Exhibiting nice game-use with heavy wear to the blade including the tip and underside, there are also chips and abrasions to the lower shaft. Tavares has added a thin silver signature across the front side of the blade, and it presents nicely.
