Appropriately nicknamed “Tiger” as the NHL’s all-time penalty minute leader, Dave Williams served as one of the game’s greatest enforcers throughout his tenure while also being a more than capable goal scorer. Williams would conclude his 14-season career with over 500 points in 962 regular-season games. We have a vintage pro-style Vancouver Canucks jersey that was customized into a Tiger Williams jersey, and it has been signed by the feared star. The second incarnation of jersey styles worn by the Canucks, the desirable “V-style” sweater made it’s debut in 1978-79, with this signed example sporting Sandow SK labeling with handwritten “42” sizing along the collar. Featuring the mounted V-shape bands over the upper front and reverse, “22” appears over the lower sleeves and verso in layered tackle twill, with fully-embroidered team crests over each upper sleeve and “Williams” across the affixed nameplate in matching material. Sporting the larger shoulder patches which were on the first set of jerseys in 1980-81, the nameplate is a later Maska specimen with yellow/orange letters (the nameplates were single orange on 1980-81 Canucks jerseys). The sleeve and reverse numbers were also single orange in 1980-81 as opposed to on the offered garment, with the Canucks switching to a one-year style with everything heat-pressed in 1981-82. This example resembles the 1982-83 specimens worn by Williams, with those having a Maska logo as opposed to a Sandow emblem over the reverse hem. Williams has signed the upper front twice, with the signatures placed over each adjoining yellow band displaying well. The jersey itself shows light to moderate wear with a few dark marks visible.
