Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2020

Lower grade offering here is led condition-wise by a 1980-81 O-Pee-Chee assembly, although admittedly, for a 1980s set, it’s not all that nice. Housed in nine-pocket pages, cards exhibit handling and wear, with creases and/or corner wear/rounded corners among the pulled key cards. The second-year Gretzky is closer to G than VG, with the Mark Messier rookie card one of the better star cards at VG. Ray Bourque RC is F with creases and rounded corners, with checklists and most team checklists marked, with however the Oilers with Gretzkey not marked and VG. …..Meanwhile a near set of ’74-75 OPCs is definitely low grade due to creases, back damage (usually tape and/or paper loss) and other flaws. Salming and McDonald RCs are multi-creased but with at least problem-free backs (the only two without back damage out of the key rookies), while among 22 cards not present are Don Cherry RC, Lafleur and two checklists. Returning to the schoolyard and reliving your childhood “flipping” days comes to mind with many of the ’74-75 entries.
