Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2020

An exceptional skater with skilled hands, Denis Savard enjoyed 17 seasons of NHL action, with nine All-Star Game appearances made along with a lone Stanley Cup championship, with the Montreal Canadiens, in 1993. Spending parts of two seasons in Florida with Tampa Bay during the mid-1990s, this signed jersey was worn by the 1990 Hall of Fame inductee in 1993-94, during the third period of his historic milestone 1,000th NHL game, on Feb 27, 1994. A Maska Air-Knit label is affixed to the collar (“3” is handwritten for 3rd period) with a size “52” fly tag, with embroidered NHL and CCM crests over the reverse hem. Styled with an attractive lightning bolt team crest, “9” appears over the sleeves and verso in slanted and textured twill numerals, with matching alternate crests over each shoulder. Important text has been added over the team crest in black marker, with “1000th NHL Game - 3rd Period – 02/27/94 – vs Oilers”. Savard has signed beneath the inscription, with a hologram added to the reverse of the collar label. A pair of LOAs will accompany, along with a COA for the signature.
Worn for just a single period, the jersey exhibits light wear, with some minor staining/discolouration over the front band. We should also note that the jersey was originally gifted by Savard to a longtime friend and NHL minor official.
