Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2020
One of very few players in history to cap off his inaugural NHL campaign with 100 points or more, Mario Lemieux finished his first season with exactly 100 in 1984-85, with this more than enough to garner the impressive Calder Trophy as the league’s best rookie. This limited-edition Penguins vintage style jersey has been signed by the superstar, with a “ROY 85” notation added, and it’s accompanied by a signed and framed 2002 Team Canada photo. The jersey was produced by CCM, with “XXL” sizing along the collar, with a tackle twill team crest and numbers. Mario has signed the second reverse “6” in white, adding the ROY notation, and the signature displays nicely against the dark background. The 16” x 20” photo picture’s Lemieux with the Canadian flag, with Super Mario signing in black marker, framed to 20” x 26”. Holograms have been affixed to each, with COAs to accompany.
The jersey has also been numbered above the signature “30/85”, with no issues for the signature. The photo includes an inserted name plaque along with a pair of medallions, with no issues for the signature and light wear to the frame.
