Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2020
Featuring three goaltenders all historically renowned for the attractively designed masks they wore, this trio of replica masks were designed/painted by noted maker Don Scott and represent models used by Mike Palmateer while with Toronto (signed), Rogie Vachon during his tenure with Los Angeles and Gilles Gratton from his time in the WHA with the Toronto Toros. The Palmateer and Vachon masks were both produced by Scott, with full strapping and back plates, with no interior padding. Both are expertly painted, with Palmateer adding an attractive signature. The Gratton is a vintage Fibrosport mask painted by Scott, with the strapping and back plate intact, along with just a few of the original interior pads remaining, with Gratton signing over the top section. A COA will accompany for the Palmateer signature.
Each of the masks displays beautifully, with some simulated game wear on the Palmateer mask. We should also note that one of the clasps is missing the reverse bolt on the Gratton mask, with this easily rectified (the Gratton mask is a novelty mask, as this exact design was never worn by Gratton with the Toros).
