Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/20/2020
A dead match for the extremely rare and highly desirable examples worn by the California Golden Seals minus the number placement, we have a seldom-if-ever-seen early-1970s Columbus Golden Seals jersey. Short-lived in the IHL, competing for just a pair of seasons from 1971 to 1973, the team served as a farm club for California before being renamed the Columbus Owls for the 1973–74 season. Sporting a Wilson label with “46” sizing affixed to the collar, there is also an inventory number sewn to the inside hem. Featuring “Seals” across the chest in individual white-over-gold tackle twill letters, “8” appears over the sleeves and verso in matching material, with no nameplate over the upper reverse. The tie-neck durene garment remains in pleasing condition, with a few marks over the front and sleeves, with paint transfer over the left shoulder. There are also a few small holes, including near the left cuff.
