Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019

The only player in NHL history to be awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy as the most valuable player in the Stanley Cup playoffs three times, Patrick Roy is also an 11-time All-Star, with his number retired by both Montreal and Colorado. From his third Conn Smythe-winning season, we have a signed and photo-matched Avalanche jersey worn by the iconic netminder during the 2000-01 Stanley Cup playoffs. Originally gifted to and hailing from the personal collection of Ray Bourque, a CCM “Goalie Style” label with “58” sizing is affixed to the collar, with CCM and NHL crests over the reverse neckline and bottom hem respectively. Styled with a textured Aves team crest with embroidered detailing, “33” appears over the sleeves and verso, with matching alternate Bigfoot crests over each shoulder along with the 2001 All-Star Game crest over the right breast. A signed LOA from Ray Bourque will accompany this desirable Patrick Roy jersey. A portion of the sales from the Ray Bourque personal collection will benefit the Bourque Family Foundation.
A few dark marks from game use are visible to the right of the team crest, with a few additional black marks over each sleeve. There is also a bit of pilling to the inside of the collar, and we should note that the fight strap shows evidence of being washed. Roy has signed between the reverse numbers in black marker, with the signature displaying nicely. Getty Image #582551 from May 14, 2001 (Game Two of the Western Conference Finals), has been matched to the black spot on the right elbow, while Getty Image #582645, also from May 14, has been matched to the irregular sewing pattern of the silver colored thread on the first "3" of "33" on the right sleeve, as well as to the little white thread showing on the top left of that same 3.
