Legendary with Toronto Maple Leafs fans and the longest serving non-North American born captain in NHL history, Mats Sundin was only the second Swede to be honoured with Hall of Fame enshrinement, with gold medals won representing his country at both the World Championships and Winter Olympics. This photo-matched Quebec Nordiques jersey was worn by the superstar during his rookie campaign in 1990-91, where he scored 59 points in 80 games. A Maska Ultrafil label is affixed to the collar, with the desirable sweater measuring-out to roughly a size 54, with embroidered CCM and NHL logos over the reverse hem. Featuring a tackle twill team crest, all other identifiers including “Sundin” over the name plate, his number “13” and the eight fleur-de-lis emblems have all been administered in heat-pressed white vinyl. Seeing use with a prominent nine-time NHL All-Star, this pleasing sweater hails from the collection of Michael Wexler.
Sporting an intact dual-clasp fight strap, the jersey shows good game use, with puck and stick marks over the front and sleeves along with heavy burns and scrapes over each sleeve, with pilling over each cuff. There are also a couple team repairs over each elbow section, with some peeling to each of the fleur-de-lis emblems as well as the reverse numbers. Getty Image #96749479 has been matched to the black marks in the lower left area of the team crest and to the black marks to the right of the NHL shield logo, while Getty Image #96749639 has been matched to the group of black marks in the right shoulder area and to some of the marks on the lower front hem. Lastly, Getty Image #1182550718 (Oct 10, 1990) has been matched to the black marks in the lower left area of the team crest.
