Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/20/2020
Okay, here we go folks – well over 3000 hockey cards are what the high bidder will get to sift through after coming out on top of this O-Pee-Chee stash, with the summary as follows. It’s easiest to go chronologically, with a group from 1975-76 just four cards shy of being complete and a VG average to report, with two Orr cards among the real low grade fillers. ...A complete ’76-77 set looks to be a tad nicer in nine-pocket pages, with however the key Bryan Trottier rookie card and the Tiger Williams RC only Fair and the Bobby Orr but Good. ...Two near sets from ’79-80 are without Wayne Gretzky rookie cards but condition improves markedly, with plenty of EX examples showing up in two binders but again, some of the keys being off-condition. Two unmarked checklists and one marked are in one near set (394/396), with an unmarked checklist and the two others missing in the other (384/396), also shy of Gordie Howe and Ken Dryden cards. One of the Oilers team checklists is unmarked but creased (VG), while the other is creased and marked. ...There are then two complete ’81-82 sets, with Gretzky and RCs of some of his Oilers teammates headlining but condition admittedly not very good for 1980s cards – VG! ...As one might expect an ’82-83 complete set is overall better, with EX+, EX-MT and NM cards adding up to be the majority with however a darn crease spotted in RCs of Grant Fuhr and Dale Hawerchuk. ...An ’84-85 starter set is missing 44 cards including pretty much all the key rookie and star cards – we cannot find one that merits inclusion in our scans. We’re sure you’ll be pleased(!), knowing that an ’89-90 complete set is better than all the rest, with however a white scratch in the upper blue border of the Joe Sakic RC. ...The bonus stacks of cards not mentioned in our title might be of more interest than much of the aforementioned, with two starter sets of lower grade ’69-70s each totaling upwards of 200 cards. Some stars are present in each with however most of the All-Star and trophy-winning cards at the end missing. Throw-ins also include approximately 200 cards from ’75-76. Some sifting and sorting awaits a card-loving hobbyist here!
