Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2019
For the lovers of beer and hockey, we have a collection of mini Stanley Cups from the 1999 Labatt Blue beer promotion, all set within a large and heavy shadowbox, along with a pair of additional framed bottle cap displays, one featuring teams, the other NHL trophies. From the first year of the promotion, this complete set of 28 individually team-identified Stanley Cups is housed in an impressive 3-1/2" thick wooden display case and protected by plexiglass. These displays apparently were never sold, rather used by salesmen and given to retail points. Plaques featuring the Labatt Blue and Hockey Night in Canada logos appear at the bottom corners, with wiring affixed to the reverse to facilitate hanging. With full dimensions of 32 ½” x 33 ½”, we should also note some light wear to the shadowbox itself. The first bottle cap display is 18” x 22” (no glass), with 85 caps affixed for different clubs, with multiples for certain teams, with each cap featuring a Stanley Cup championship from the beginning of the NHL until 2000. The second display is approx 28 ½” x 32 ½”, with a cap for each NHL trophy affixed over the image of said trophy, with a small Labatt Blue plaque inserted beneath. Displaying beautifully, we should note some minor damage to the bottom left corner of the frame.
