Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
A charter-member of the Western Canada Hockey League and existing for just over a decade, the Calgary Centennials were originally known as the Buffaloes during their first season in 1966-67, with three West division titles won during the early-1970s. We have a Centennials alternate captain’s jersey worn by Al Rycroft in 1970-71, during his final of four seasons spent with the club. A tattered Tease Knitting Company label remains affixed to the collar, with the vintage durene sweater measuring-out to roughly a size 46. Featuring an attractive red and black team crest with white embroidered detailing, “19” appears over the sleeves and verso in layered tackle twill, with both a garter-style fight strap and tie-neck collar utilized. A few marks and light stains are visible over the lower front/reverse, with additional faint staining over the lower right sleeve. There is also pilling to the interior along with team repairs over the reverse, lower right seam and front striping band.
