Dating back to the Nordiques’ WHA origins, this magnificent 1972-73 inaugural season Nords home gamer was worn by top goal scorer Alain Caron. A prolific minor league scorer, Caron led the Nordiques with 36 goals in his first of consecutive 30-goal seasons with Quebec. The blue that became the Nords’ signature color was lighter and less prominent than red in uniforms debuted by Quebec in the first season in the rebel league. Multi-twill Nords crest and number 19 on the back display some fading from laundering, particularly to the light blue twill. No tagging remains in the collar of this treasure, which measures out to about a size 42. There are board burns and red and blue paint transfer on the sleeves.
There is a evidence of a former nameplate on the back. More game wear includes a board burn on the red right shoulder yoke, marks on the crest, including on the light blue puck, and black marks on the left sleeve. There are a few reddish-brown spot stains between the numbers on the back along with a few small black marks. Some stitching has let go on the red twill “1” on the right sleeve and there are a few areas with fabric runs at the cuffs, and an unrepaired hole on each sleeve.
