Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
Another well collected hockey issue from the early-1970s, when Canada and Russia were vying for world dominance, we have a desirable Eddie Sargent stamp collection, with a complete set in panels (224), a second complete set affixed in one of the designed albums featuring Paul Henderson, a matching unused album, and an uncut sheet containing Series #1 to #8. Issued during the 1972-73 season and the last of three sets issued by Sargent, each panel (series) consists of 14 stamps, along with the NHLPA logo and original purchase price of 10 cents. There is some light wear to the odd stamp, with the panels in overall excellent condition. The complete album exhibits toning along with some spotting to the covers, with the majority of the stamps exhibiting expected wear commensurate with their former handling and affixing, with a few examples detached but present. The second unused album is also the Henderson version, with heavier wear including some creasing and edge tears. Lastly, the uncut Series #1 to #8 sheet is approx 20 ½” x 32”, with heavy edge and surface wear including creasing, with a large edge tear over the Poul Popiel stamp. The uncut sheet will be sent rolled.
