Losing only 22 games, the Montreal Canadiens would finish first overall at the conclusion of the 1967-68 NHL regular season, with HOF star Dick Duff appearing in 66 games and scoring 46 points. For their status as NHL regular season champions, members of the Canadiens received these miniature Prince of Wales trophies to commemorate their fine campaign, with “Dick Duff” engraved on a metal plaque applied to one side of the 2-inch high wooden base, while engraving on a second plaque over the reverse reads "NHL Champions – Winners 1967-68 – Club de Hockey Canadien”. Four silver-plated hockey sticks rise up from the base to support a cup with removable lid, giving the award a total height of just over 12”. Originating from Duff’s personal collection, this important trophy has been signed and is ready for display.
There is some minor surface wear present over numerous sections of the trophy including the mounted sticks, floral bands, and rim, with a bit of additional surface wear to the wooden base. There is also a very slight bend to the rim of the lid, with this barely noticeable. Duff has signed the green felt on the underside of the base, and the signature displays well.
