Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
The younger brother of Bruins’ superstar Bobby Bauer, David – known as "Father" David Bauer – played for the St Michael’s Majors and the University of Toronto before enlisting in the army. After being ordained a priest in 1953, Bauer went on to coach at St Michael’s, and was later coach and general manager for Canada at the 1968 Olympics. Elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame as a Builder in 1989, Bauer would pass away in 1988 at the age of 64. We have a signed puck from the Kitchener native, with examples signed by deceased Hall members hard to come by. A Team Canada example dated 1983 with advertising over the reverse from Labatt, Bauer has signed to the left of the Hockey Canada logo, with the small ballpoint signature somewhat faded. A sticker from PSA/DNA numbered “AA68219” has been affixed to the reverse, with a matching COA to accompany.
