Jason Spezza’s photo-matched 2002-03 Senators game-worn rookie season playoffs jersey sports the No. 39 he wore at the outset of his NHL career with Ottawa before later giving it up to HOF goalie Dominik Hasek and switching to his familiar No. 19. Spezza’s jersey is photo-matched by the black marks in the middle area of No. "39" on the left sleeve to Getty Images #2039316 taken during Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals in the 2003 Stanley Cup playoffs at the Corel Centre on May 23, 2003. There is a team repair on the back of the right sleeve and a size 56 flag tag hangs in the back of the neck. The MeiGray patch in the hem has registry number A07104, which corresponds to the accompanying LOA.
According to the MeiGray population report, Spezza’s jersey is a "White 3rd Regular Season / Playoffs". More game wear shows in a black mark to the right of the Senators crest on the front of the jersey, a few fainter marks on the front and upper back, and light board burns and faint marks on the left sleeve.
Spezza played the final three games of the Senators’ seven-game loss to the New Jersey Devils in the 2003 Eastern Conference Final. He contributed a goal and an assist in his Stanley Cup Playoffs debut, a 3-1 win in Game 5 that allowed Ottawa to stay alive after losing three of the first four games of the series.
