Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
Hailing from a trio of hockey brothers, Wally Kilrea saw action with 5 different NHL clubs including the defunct Philadelphia Quakers, New York Americans and Montreal Maroons, with Stanley Cups won back-to-back with Detroit in 1936 and 1937. We have a signed 1933-34 World Wide Gum Ice Kings card of the Ottawa native, with this example encapsulated and certified “AUTHENTIC AUTO” by PSA/DNA. Signed to the left of his image in pencil, the signature displays well but blends into the background somewhat, with the card itself in low grade, with corner wear and creasing. The reverse has also been heavily damaged, with glue and paper residue from prior scrapbook removal. Kilrea would pass at the age of 83, in the summer of 1992.
