Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
Originally the personal copy of 1930s Cambridge hockey star F.A. de Marwicz – according to our consignor, we have an “Old Timers Reunion” dinner menu from 1936, with this example featuring approx 29 pencil signatures from noteworthy British hockey stars. At 4 ½” x 6 ½”, the fold-over menu features hockey graphics along with the date of the event on the cover, March 27th 1936, with the majority of the signatures placed over the back cover. Featuring deceased HOFers Bunny Ahearne (HHOF), Minet “Peter” Patton (IIHF HOF) and Carl Erhardt (IIHF HOF), additional signers include Ernie Ramus, Nevill Melland and P.M. Churchill, Doc Kellough, Peter Halford, Dickie Von Trauten Berger, H.W. Bushell, B. Halford and others. Patton is of special note, as he was a founding member of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) in 1908, widely credited with bringing ice hockey to Britain. He also served as the inaugural president of the British Ice Hockey Association (BIHA) in 1914. The majority of the signatures display well and are bunched-up, with toning and spine wear the main concerns for the program itself.
