Each puck originally distributed by Hockey Diversified for the 1972-74 NHL Goal Puck Program could be obtained by mail with the buyer's choice of team and possibly player. A label was affixed to each puck listing the scorer, team and date, along with a code that divulged which team-goal said puck accounted for. We have a pair of pucks from the program, one from 1972-73, the other, 1973-74, with these particular examples used by Yvan Cournoyer. First, the 1972-73 puck was used to score a goal for the Montreal Canadiens vs the Chicago Black Hawks at Chicago Stadium, on Feb 21st 1973. The 1973-74 puck was used to score the Montreal Canadiens 69th goal of the season vs the Chicago Black Hawks at Chicago Stadium, on Nov 25th 1973. An NHL Goal Puck Registration Certificate will accompany the Feb 21st puck.
Frank Mahovlich and Serge Savard drew the assists on the Feb 21st goal, with the offered puck serving as Cournoyer’s 31st goal of the season, and 267th of his career. The Goal Puck Program label is especially dark, with the puck inventory number handwritten. The rubberized Black Hawks logo exhibits a tear, with just light wear to the puck itself. The Nov 25th goal served as Cournoyer’s 15th of the season, and 291st of his career. The Goal Puck Program label has a number of dark marks, while the Black Hawks logo exhibits just a small blemish, with just light wear to the puck itself including a small edge gouge.
