Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019

Our consignor's intriguing eclectic collection offers up mostly oddball Babe Ruth collectibles here, with four grading companies involved. Beckett's BVG has awarded a mark of NM-MT 8 to a 1932 German issue, the Sanella Margarine color card measuring 2-3/4" by a tad over 4" and joined by a Bulgarian cigarette card from the same year and picturing boxer Max Schmeling alongside Ruth. Black and white entry merited NM 7 recognition at PSA. Better-known is a 1961 Fleer #75 Ruth card (Beckett EX-MT 6). Hall of Fame stamps with attractive renditions of Ruth and fellow inaugural Baseball Hall of Fame inductee Honus Wagner feature "Champions of Sport" in the upper left and are housed in "ACA" holders, the 1969 Ajman productions earning marks of NMM 8 and NM+ 7.5 respectively. Completing is an almost-square and crude card identified as "1934 Quaker Oats Card - Babe Ruth #21 on the label, with "AAA" the grading outfit which gave the specimen at mark of NM-MT+ 8.5. A rather crude riveted contraption holds the piece. Weird, wild stuff, indeed.
