Three decades are represented in this interesting CFL stash, with an 88-card set from 1958 featuring an equal amount of rubbed-with-a-coin and non-rubbed backs. The latter (better) group is in the VG neighborhood and includes Gilchrist RC (G), Ploen RC (VG) and off-centered VG-EX stars Faloney and Kwong, while Parker (“5” written on the front, otherwise VG) is among the former, dominated by G examples. From 1965 are mostly G, G+, VG and VG+ cards, with the average VG or close to it and a common and checklist #60 required for completion. The key George Reed RC is off-centered and VG, with checklist #132 partially filled-in (otherwise VG). Rookie cards of Joe Theisman (VG-EX), Tony Gabriel (VG+), Dave Cutler (EX) and Peter Dalla Riva (VG) highlight a 1971 set of 132, with the (unmarked) checklist VG+ and others mostly in the VG to EX+ realm. Meanwhile, a partial set and lot grab bag features over 600 cards, with 100-plus from both 1959 and 1961 and all the years/quantities outlined on our website.
There are actually three distinctive groups of 1959 cards, although none is anywhere near high grade. A lot of 48 different averages G and includes 7-James, 40-Kwong, 41-Bright and 44-Barry (unmarked checklist back), with the aforementioned F-G. Another partial set (65/88), along with 29 duplicates, displays better at times, but glue residue or paper appears on the back of approximately half. Some 150 others are real low grade, with duplication including three Russ Jackson rookie cards and four Angelo Mosca RCs. From 1960 are 71 cards including 68 different and a VG average. Faloney, Shatto, James, Rote, Vaughan, Mosca and Barrow lead the lineup. Black and white cards from ’61 total 171 and include 107 different from the set of 132, with Ron Lancaster (VG+) and Willie Fleming (VG) rookies present, along with QB stars Parker, Faloney, Kapp and Rote. Condition varies throughout, with dozens of VG and VG+ examples in the mix. Some 50 small cards (separated panels) are from 1962, with 1963 entries totalling 63, with 48 of them different. We spot some VG-EX and EX cards to go along with the lesser lights. The high bidder will also receive 35 Post Cereal cards, (some nice, some not so nice), and with a trimmed card-size ad featuring George Dixon from the front panel of a box – cool. Another miscellaneous small stack may also yield a pleasant surprise or more. An instant CFL collection or inventory is awaiting your bid.
