The Vezina Trophy runner-up in 1974–75, Rogie Vachon spent numerous seasons in Montreal, Los Angeles, Detroit and Boston, with his #30 the first number retired by the Kings. We have a stick that saw use in the competent hands of the HOFer during the early-1970s while with Montreal, in either 1970-71, or early in 1971-72 before being dealt to Los Angeles. A Victoriaville Pro model with “R Vachon” and “1” stamped-on, the stick retains the original black tape over the blade and white-over-black on the knob, along with the white tape over the lower and upper paddle, with this tape job seen in many period photos. As an added bonus, the stick has been signed by all three Habs netminders including Vachon, along with Phil Myre and a rookie Ken Dryden.
The striping accents remain, with wear to the taped section of blade and paddle, with a small hole along the underside at the heel. There is also a small age crack starting at the toe, with red paint transfer over the shaft. All three have signed on the same side of the shaft in matching green ink – making the stick ideal to display – with no issues for the signatures, with the Dryden rookie example between the striping accent over the handle and the “Victoriaville” ink identifier.
