Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
Vintage lumber handled by noteworthy netminders is offered, with a collection of 5 goal sticks, with examples used by Ed Chadwick (mid-to-late-1960s – Buffalo Bisons), Marcel Paille (circa mid-1960s - New York Rangers/Providence Reds), Gilles Villemure (circa early-to-mid-1960s - New York Rangers/Vancouver Canucks/Baltimore Clippers), Peter McDuffe (circa early-to-mid-1970s - New York Rangers) and Bruce Gamble (mid-to-late-1960s - Toronto Maple Leafs).
Each stick feature’s the player’s name stamped-on, with the original tape jobs on the blades and handles/knobs intact (the knob tape is now gone from the Gamble stick). The McDuffe is a Sher-Wood with “31” handwritten, with a crack to the blade and tear to the tape. The tape over the knob is also loose. The Villemure stick is a Northland Pro with mostly intact striping accents, with an age crack through the paddle. The tape over the knob is also loose. Next, the Paille stick is a Northland Pro, with heavy tape covering at least two large cracks to the blade, with heavy use exhibited. This is followed by an additional Northland Pro used by Chadwick, with stamps from Buffalo supplier Dick Fischer over each side of the shaft. Light use is exhibited, with a few specks of red paint transfer over the shaft. Lastly, the Gamble stick is a CCM Custom Pro with a stamp from supplier Browns Sports, with the striping accent over the handle almost detached, with a rip to the tape over the paddle. The stick shows nice use, with rips to the blade tape and a break to the blade.
