Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019

Absolutely riveting are the images of the men who comprised the first Toronto "Maple Leafs" team to capture Lord Stanley's silverware, with Clancy, Horner, Conacher, Primeau, Jackson, Bailey, Day and the supporting cast joined by Smythe, Selke and Irvin in a fascinating 8" by 10" blue-tinted jigsaw puzzle. Shrink-wrapped, the relic displays light to moderate wear, but nothing unsightly, with the tip of one piece (upper left corner) neatly restored. The Cup champion Leafs were also paid tribute to in a set of blotter-like coasters, with scarcity always winning out over condition, the odd-shaped thin cardboard stock affairs oh so difficult to find in high grade. All nine here are technically low grade, with however Andy Blair, Bob Gracie and Fred Robertson examples free of heavy creases/wear and displaying best. Hap Day, Busher Jackson and Alex Levinsky coasters are close but each has a missing tip, while roughest are those depicting Lorne Chabot, Red Horner and Frank Finnegan. Thought-provoking treasures!
