Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
The record holder for most single-season goals until Wayne Gretzky emerged on the scene, Phil Esposito is also one of only five players – along with Gretzky – to have eclipsed the 150 points-total for a single NHL season. We have a signed stick that saw action in the hands of the HOFer, with this example the style of stick used during the Stanley Cup championship season of 1969-70. A Victoriaville Pro model, “P Esposito” appears stamped over the upper shaft along with a faded red “7”, with additional stamps over each side from the maker. Featuring a partially-intact lower striping accent along with the original white tape over the handle/knob, the black blade tape has been removed to facilitate the large and flowing signature that appears flawless.
The stick itself shows great use with numerous marks over the heel section and lower shaft, with a few small cracks at the toe section along with a small broken off section at the tip of the blade.
