Sharing in his third Canada Cup championship with his fellow Team Canada members in 1991, Paul Coffey would transition from Pittsburgh to Los Angeles during the 1991-92 NHL season, with an impressive 64 points scored in his final 54 games in Pennsylvania. We have a signed Penguins alternate captain’s jersey that was issued to the superstar in 1991-92. A Maska label with handwritten “77A” remains affixed to the collar near a size “48” fly tag, with embroidered NHL and CCM crests over the reverse bottom hem. Styled with the particular Penguins team crest with embroidered detailing that saw use from 1986 till only the end of this season, “77” appears over the sleeves and verso in oversized tackle twill, with the NHL 75th anniversary crest over the right breast. There is also a Penguins 20th anniversary crest over the right shoulder and “Badger” memorial crest for Bob Johnston over the left.
Coffey has signed the jersey over the reverse in black marker, just to the left of the nameplate, and the autograph displays well, with just a few random marks to the garment, including to the left of the team crest.
