Legendary goalie Jacques Plante’s March 4, 1956 Montreal Canadiens multi-signed game-used stick is from the first of his record seven Vezina Trophy seasons and the first season of the 1950s Habs dynasty’s record run of five straight Stanley Cup titles. Plante and fellow HOFers Maurice “Rocket” Richard, Jean Beliveau and Dickie Moore have signed his CCM stick along with Ken Mosdell and two other non-players. “Custom made for Plante” is stamped on the shaft below Jake the Snake’s tape job on the knob. Plante’s original tape jobs are also on the blade and paddle, with some tape added to the upper paddle and tip of the blade. Game wear includes red goal post paint transfer on the back of the shaft.
“Supplied by Raymond Hardware Sporting Goods Ltd.” is stamped on the front of the shaft.
“Plante’s stick at Olympia, March 4 – 1956, Montreal 6 – Detroit 4” is handwritten in pencil at the top of the paddle.
“Jacques Plante’s Goalie Stick, March 4, 1956, Final Score, Montreal – 6, Detroit – 4” is engraved on a 3” x 4” metal plaque attached to the front of the paddle with two screws.
